1st Soil: This soil hears but never understands the Logos
2nd Soil: This soil hears and understands the Logos, but falls away after a time
3rd Soil: This soil abides in the logos, but is distracted by worries and/or greed
4th Soil: This soil bears fruit, abiding in logos and not distracted by the world
Was Jesus merry? And should we be merry? The answer to both questions is, `yes'.
This video will show you why.
What was Paul’s Thorn in the flesh? Today, you will find broadly two answers:
1. The thorn was a sickness and Satan was the author.
2. The thorn was persecution and Satan was the author.
We will examine both points of view before coming to a surprising conclusion.
There is no biblical basis to suggest that Jesus was poor. Jesus did not regard himself as being poor and neither did his treasurer Judas. Jesus had a house to live in and regularly took offerings from his followers. There is ample evidence to suggest that Jesus had plentiful resources and even regularly gave to the poor himself.
The Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the written word of GOD. When the Bible uses the term “word” as a translation for “Logos”, many of us have equated “Logos” with the bible itself. I will show below how this is in error. While the bible bears witness to the Logos, in the new covenant, the Logos now dwells within the believer.
From the parable of the sower, there are 4 different types of soil that the word has to be work in:
1st type: "When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart", Matthew (13:19).
This individual hears the logos, but they do not understand it. Faith comes be hearing and hearing by the rhema of GOD. Without rhema, the message of salvation is mere head knowledge that will not result in salvation.
2nd type: "Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended", Matthew (13:21).
This individual understands the logos, but is not rooted in their relationship with Christ. Christ is the embodiment of the Logos of GOD. Consequently, once any trouble arise on this earth (as it surely will), this person is easily drawn away from Christ.
3rd type: He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful", Matthew (13:22).
This individual is rooted in relationship with Christ, but they do not focus on him. Rather, their attention is driven to worldly things and this chokes their relationship with Christ, so that they do not bear fruit.
4th type: "But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty", Matthew (13:23).
Only the 4th type of soil proves to be fruitful. This person has spiritual knowledge, they are both rooted in it and focussed on it. They bear fruit, but it comes gradually rather than all at once.
