“And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:” Romans 4:19.
While it is necessary to have all knowledge of salvation (Step A) and to have it quickened by GOD so that you believe (Step B), to bear fruit requires a focus on it, to the detriment of other thoughts. In Romans 4:19, Abraham had every opportunity to let doubt and unbelief counteract his faith. They were believing for a son and yet both he and Sara were of advanced age. Yet the scripture says that he “considered not” any of these issues that might have led to unbelief. For this reason, his faith was able to overcome the negative physical circumstances and Sara was eventually able to bear an heir.
“While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.”, Mark 5:35-36.
In this scripture, the daughter of one of the rulers of the synagogue was sick and he implored Jesus to lay hands on her. A negative report later came that day to the effect that the daughter had died. The ruler of the synagogue, who initially had the faith to fall at the feet of Jesus, was then filled with fear and unbelief. Notice that Jesus says “ Be not afraid, only believe”, making the point that the ruler of the synagogue should consider not the negative report and focus on their faith instead. Once again, we see the importance both of faith, but also of 'considering not' any negative reports that will lead to unbelief.
“And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.” Mark 6:51-52.
Notice how the principle of ‘considering not’ also works in reverse. In this case, the disciples had been driven to fear by the rough weather out at sea. It says that they “considered not the miracle of the loaves” and this led to a hardening of their hearts. In this case, they had forgotten about the miracles that Jesus had worked in the past and focused on their negative circumstances. This mindset will not bear fruit for GOD because it will drive us to unbelief and a mindset of unbelief will counteract our faith. So rather than ‘considering not’ the wonderful promises of GOD, we should rather be mindful to remember them. At the same time, we should ‘consider not’ all of the negative reports and circumstances that will lead us to unbelief.
